Following the Czech GP, the race calendar moves to the Netherlands, with the sprint race starting at 16:00 Turkish time on Saturday and the main race at 15:00 Turkish time on Sunday.<\/p>\n<h2>One of the oldest Grand Prix races in history.<\/h2>\n<p>The Dutch GP remains the only race on the MotoGP calendar since its founding in 1949, with only one cancellation in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Assen is known as the &#039;Cathedral&#039; in the world of motorsport and is a favorite track for the vast majority of riders. With its resurfaced asphalt in 2020, the 4.5 km track boasts one of the shortest main straights on the calendar, but its fast, long corners and banking put a significant strain on the tires. The narrow track with 18 corners demands constant and rapid changes of direction from the riders.<\/p>\n<h2>Weather conditions can be a determining factor.<\/h2>\n<p>This year, temperature fluctuations, rather than rain, are emerging as a significant factor in the race. The heatwave is expected to end on Friday, with temperatures dropping by approximately 10 degrees by Sunday&#039;s race. This variability could directly impact teams&#039; setup and tire strategies.<\/p>\n<h2>Track records and past champions<\/h2>\n<p>Valentino Rossi holds the most impressive victory record at Assen; the Italian legend has won eight times in the top class. Rossi celebrated his 100th victory across all categories at this track in 2009, ended his 44-race winless streak at Assen in 2013, and secured his final career victory there in 2017. In subsequent years, Yamaha dominated; however, Ducati returned in 2022 with Pecco Bagnaia, ending a 14-year drought. Bagnaia has since won three consecutive years at Assen. In 2023, Marco Bezzecchi shared pole position and sprint victory with Ducati, while the Italian brand dominated every session in the 2024 edition.
