According to the decision, the power split between internal combustion engines and electric motors will increase to 58-42% from the 2027 season onwards, reaching 60-40% in 2028.<\/p>\n<h2>What do the regulations bring?<\/h2>\n<p>This gradual change in power distribution aims to improve race balance following criticism from drivers. To enable implementation without hardware or chassis changes, the FIA will limit reconnaissance laps at certain circuits such as Monza; the race distance may be shortened by one or two laps if necessary. Meanwhile, pre-season testing before 2027 has been extended from three to four days due to the overall complexity of the current cars.<\/p>\n<p>FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated that they are closely monitoring the evolution of the 2026 rules and working in cooperation with all stakeholders. Ben Sulayem emphasized that any major regulatory change doesn&#039;t end when the cars are on the track, and that continuous dialogue and cooperation are essential.<\/p>\n<h2>Security measures for 2026<\/h2>\n<p>WMSC also approved two emergency safety regulations for the 2026 season. The first is a partial reintroduction of Boost Mode in wet conditions. Earlier this year, the FIA banned Boost Mode on wet tracks following driver feedback, as the sudden increase in torque was deemed a significant safety risk. Under the new regulation, Boost Mode will be partially reactivated, but only in a limited way to prevent power loss when cars slow down on straights; output power will not be increased, and the overtaking function will be disabled. The WMSC report states that these changes were made to reduce the speed of shutdown in low visibility conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The second safety regulation concerns the heat hazard announcement. From now on, this announcement can be made separately for the sprint race and the main race; meaning the hazard may apply to only one and not the other. The announcement will continue to be made 24 hours before both stages. In the event of a heat hazard, drivers are required to wear cooling vests or carry additional weight on their vehicles.
