The two-time world champion Italian is moving to RS-GP, signing a four-year contract that includes the 2030 season. Bagnaia entered this weekend's Assen race from seventh place in the championship standings, having secured his first win of the season at last week's Brno Sprint.

The background to leaving Ducati and switching to Aprilia.

Bagnaia spent his entire premier class career under the Ducati banner; first racing for the Pramac team, then being part of Lenovo Ducati's official lineup from 2021 onwards. He won back-to-back world championships in 2022 and 2023, bringing Ducati its first titles since Casey Stoner. However, in the 2025 season, overshadowed by his new teammate Marc Marquez, Bagnaia struggled with the GP25 bike, achieving four victories but dropping to fifth place in the championship, marking his worst campaign as a factory rider. Ducati announced on Wednesday that they were parting ways with Bagnaia and that Pedro Acosta from KTM would join Marc Marquez.

Bagnaia considered several options within VR46: staying with Ducati, moving to the factory Yamaha team, or choosing Aprilia for the upcoming 850cc/Pirelli era, amidst increasing rumors during the winter season that KTM's Acosta would be Marquez's new teammate. Bagnaia announced that he made his decision during the final pre-season test in Buriram; however, the official announcement was delayed until today due to MSMA/MotoGP contract negotiations.

Partnership with Bezzecchi, Martin's departure.

Bagnaia will be teaming up with the current world championship leader and close friend Marco Bezzecchi at Aprilia; Bezzecchi renewed his contract at the start of the season. Jorge Martin, who has to make room for Bagnaia, is preparing to move to Yamaha in 2027. Martin won the 2024 championship with Pramac, ahead of Bagnaia, bringing the number one badge to Aprilia.

Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola said: “Michele Colaninno and I share a common vision of supporting Italy; that’s why we envisioned Marco and Pecco together for the new chapter of Aprilia Racing. Bagnaia’s arrival is a confirmation of the value of Italian sport, which has been prominent on the world stage in recent months with the successes of Kimi Antonelli in Formula 1, Jannik Sinner in tennis and Federica Brignone at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. We are incredibly proud to host Pecco and it gives Italian sport a new impetus on the international stage. We will warmly welcome him and his family; but first, we will try to beat him! Hosting numerous world champions is a responsibility we are very excited to undertake.’

As of the 2026 season, Aprilia has overtaken Ducati in the drivers' championship with Bezzecchi and Martin; they also lead in the teams' and manufacturers' championships.

Source

www.crash.net

Francesco Bagnaia, 850cc döneminin başlangıcı olan 2027 sezonu itibarıyla Aprilia fabrika takımına katılacak; İtalyan pilot, 2030’a kadar geçerli dört yıllık sözleşme imzaladı.

[2,84
575,177,101,100,403
post-1169","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-motogp","category-slider","tag-aprilia-racing","tag-francesco-bagnaia","tag-jorge-martin","tag-marco-bezzecchi","tag-motogp-2027
["GET
