Completely redesigned for a side-by-side format, Ogier finished just one second ahead of Takamoto Katsuta, who came in second.<\/p>\n<h2>Neuville and Pajari finished the first day behind.<\/h2>\n<p>Ogier, the 2025 champion, faced direct competition from 2024 champion Thierry Neuville; the Belgian driver finished third, 1.1 seconds behind the leader. His Toyota teammates Sami Pajari and Oliver Solberg were right behind him, both 1.2 seconds behind. Championship leader Elfyn Evans dropped to sixth place, overtaken by Katsuta, while Adrien Fourmaux finished seventh. Dani Sordo (+2.5 seconds), Jon Armstrong (+2.8 seconds), and Yohan Rossel, the fastest in WRC2, completed the top 10 at the end of the first day.<\/p>\n<p>In his own race, Pajari managed to overtake Latvian M\u00e3rti\u0146\u0161 Sesks, who finished 13th, while his M-Sport teammate Josh McErlean lost to Fourmaux, finishing behind him. Armstrong went head-to-head with Solberg, while Sordo raced alongside his compatriot Alejandro Cach\u00f3n in his Rally2 Toyota.<\/p>\n<h2>Drivers&#039; eyes are on the real test on Friday.<\/h2>\n<p>Ogier expressed his satisfaction with racing in Greece in his post-stage statement: \u201cYou all know the real start is tomorrow. It\u2019s a great pleasure to be in Greece; a historic rally, a tough challenge awaits us, but it always is. We know that luck will ultimately play a big role, we feel ready.\u201d Neuville, who was the fastest in the shakedown on Thursday morning and will start Friday\u2019s stages from seventh place on the road, adopted a cautious approach: \u201cIt\u2019s nice to go into another gravel rally with a good feeling for the car, but we shouldn\u2019t be too optimistic; it\u2019s a long rally and anything can happen. We\u2019ll maintain our own pace and see where we finish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pajari, who is chasing his first WRC victory, spoke hopefully: \u201cIt was a long day for a short drive, but seeing the enthusiasm of the crowd makes it all worthwhile.
