The Ferrari driver was the fastest in the single practice session at Silverstone with a lap time of 1 minute 29.260 seconds on soft tires. Hamilton was 0.213 seconds ahead of his former Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli and 0.599 seconds ahead of his teammate Charles Leclerc.<\/p>\n<h2>What happened during the session?<\/h2>\n<p>Due to the sprint weekend format, only one practice session was held; teams took to the track on hard tires to build up their pace. The lead frequently changed hands on the Silverstone track, which reached 49 degrees Celsius. Midway through the session, Antonelli appeared to be leading with a time of 1.30.777m; Red Bull&#039;s Isack Hadjar was 0.192 seconds behind, and Mercedes&#039; George Russell was 0.209 seconds behind. Meanwhile, Hamilton, using hard tires, had a time of 1.30.521m, 0.256 seconds ahead of Antonelli. McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, however, lost control and spun around between Becketts and Chapel with 25 minutes to go.<\/p>\n<p>The situation changed in the last 10 minutes of the session when soft tire laps began. Antonelli was the first driver to break below 1.30m with a time of 1.29.473m; Russell was 0.465 seconds behind. Leclerc was right behind Russell. However, Hamilton took the lead in the last six minutes with a lap time of 1.29.260m and remained unbeaten until the end of that period.<\/p>\n<h2>Full list and featured names<\/h2>\n<p>Leclerc moved up to third place with 1m29.859s, while Russell was fourth with 1m29.938s. Piastri took fifth place with 1m30.147s, Max Verstappen of Red Bull was sixth with 1m30.240s, and Lando Norris was seventh with 1m30.288s. Hadjar was eighth, while Audi driver Nico H\u00fclkenberg, despite not yet scoring points in 2026, was ninth with 1m30.743s recorded on medium tires. Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls completed the top 10 with 1m30.850s recorded on medium tires.<\/p>\n<p>Another notable aspect of the session was the implications of the ADUO (Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities) rules. The presence of Red Bull and Mercedes in the top three was to be expected on the power-sensitive Northamptonshire track.
