Honda&#039;s track general manager and chief engineer, Shintaro Orihara, shared this information in the team&#039;s preview statement for the Belgian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<h2>Two more races before Zandvoort with the current spec.<\/h2>\n<p>Orihara said, \u201cWe have two more races before we introduce the new engine,\u201d and added, \u201cIt\u2019s important to continue learning with the current version; we can carry these energy distribution findings over to future races where long straights like Monza are crucial.\u201d The ADUO mechanism grants the manufacturer with the weakest power unit performance ranking the right to further development; Honda was able to implement the Zandvoort update under this framework.<\/p>\n<p>The first half of the season has been extremely challenging for Aston Martin. The AMR26 has only been able to compete for points against newcomer Cadillac. Fernando Alonso&#039;s only point in the championship standings came thanks to unexpected developments at the Monaco GP, where he qualified from 14th place. Alonso and Lance Stroll shared the back of the grid in both races at Silverstone, trailing the nearest Cadillac by over a second and the first two seconds at Q2.<\/p>\n<h2>Energy management and weather conditions will be decisive factors in the spa.<\/h2>\n<p>Orihara also commented on the Belgian GP: \u201cSpa is a real test for manufacturers in terms of energy management; we need to plan well how to distribute the MGU-K power on the long straights. Even considering the track length, energy harvesting is quite limited here; this makes setting up the distribution plan even more critical. The long straights put intense pressure on the power unit in terms of both performance and reliability.\u201d Orihara also drew attention to the variable weather conditions: \u201cThe weather remained dry at Silverstone; Spa could be the first race of the season where we encounter properly wet conditions. Anything is possible when it comes to the weather.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aston Martin, acknowledging that catching the midfield this season is nearly impossible due to budget cap and aerodynamic testing restrictions, has redirected its resources to the 2027 car.
