In an interview with Lawrence Barretto on the F1 Off The Grid podcast, Oliver Bearman stated that the Haas team's high ambitions and strong motivation directly impacted his own performance. The 21-year-old British driver, who has completed seven races of the 2026 season shaped by new technical regulations, emphasized that his relationship with the American team has deepened and that he has now fully found his place within the team.
Strong relationships with engineers, high aspirations.
Bearman described the atmosphere within the Haas team with these words: “We have a great relationship with the engineers and mechanics, there’s so much more joy among them. It’s really fun, I absolutely love it. Everyone is incredibly motivated, working tirelessly with extremely high goals. That motivates me too; I want to prove to them that I have the capacity to take the team forward.” Bearman also added that developing a competitive car despite major regulatory changes is an extraordinary achievement given the scale of the team.
China and Mexico results, Ferrari connection.
Bearman cited his 5th place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix and 4th place at the Mexican Grand Prix as his brightest moments of the season. “Fourth place in Mexico was one of the best days of my life. These are the kinds of feelings you live for; the ones that get you out of bed in the morning, that make you spend that extra hour in the gym,” he said. A member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and having started his F1 career with Ferrari, Bearman stated that he dreams of one day winning races and championships with Ferrari, but that's not his current focus. “Right now, I want to do my best with Haas. Fighting for podiums with the team is our main goal; I'll give everything for that,” he said. Bearman added that he has now become accustomed to the challenges of F1 life, including the travel burden, and that he feels much more comfortable in his second full season.
