Formula E has announced its 21-stage calendar for the 2026/27 season, which will feature the new generation Gen4 car. Due to the demanding infrastructure requirements of the all-wheel-drive Gen4 car, which boasts 800 horsepower and top speeds of 335 km/h, the championship has added three traditional Formula 1 circuits to the calendar this year: Brands Hatch, Zandvoort, and Circuit of the Americas.
The London leg has moved from ExCel to Brands Hatch.
The British leg of the Formula 1 series has found a new home for the third time, after being held at Battersea Park in its first season and then at London ExCel between 2021-2026. Brands Hatch in Kent hosted Formula 1 between 1964-1986, hosting names like Jim Clark, Niki Lauda and Nigel Mansell. Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds said the following in an interview with Autosport: Brands Hatch was my local circuit growing up, so I know it very well. It has a magnificent amphitheater-like structure, an incredibly fast track layout, and it's a place that's far from being one of the best circuits in the world. We've signed a multi-year agreement with MSV; we want to position this circuit as a long-term home. Dodds also stated that eight circuits, including Brands Hatch and Circuit de Monaco, will be organized as double-stage circuits.
Zandvoort and Austin are on the Formula E calendar for the first time.
Zandvoort, which gained prominence thanks to the Dutch Grand Prix, will leave the F1 calendar after the 2026 Formula 1 season but will return to the Formula E calendar that same year. The Circuit of the Americas in Texas will remain on the calendar as a one-day event. Dodds made the following assessment of Austin: Austin has always felt good to us; a vibrant city focused on technology and innovation. We weren't sure if the track layout would showcase our cars well, so we targeted Gen4 and I'm very happy that we were able to reach an agreement.
The season starts in Jeddah and ends in Japan.
The 21-stage season will begin in December at the refurbished Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia. Mexico City will host the second stage in early January; followed by Austin, Miami, Sao Paulo, and China. The European leg will feature Berlin, Monaco, Brands Hatch, Zandvoort, and Madrid, while the season will conclude with China and Japan. This new connection the championship has forged with European circuits, the nostalgia and prestige value created by major racetracks in motorsports He brought it up again.
