Peter Hickman secured second place at the 2026 Isle of Man TT Superbike race, arguably one of the most valuable podium finishes of his career. The BMW rider, who has been struggling with nerve damage following a serious crash during practice last year, embraced the island with open arms.

The heavy toll of 2025

Hickman arrived at the 2026 TT battling nerve damage from last year's accident. The 2025 season was overshadowed by that practical setback; the British driver was unable to participate. Returning to the track and remaining competitive after such a history is an achievement in itself. But Hickman didn't stop there.

Rounds of competition with Dunlop

Hickman engaged in a fierce battle for second place with Michael Dunlop throughout the race. Ultimately, he overtook Dunlop in the final two laps to claim the silver medal. This performance demonstrated not only physical recovery but also mental resilience. One can imagine how he felt after the race; the island has always held a special meaning for him.

A desire that age and damage cannot stop.

TT has always been home to such stories. Serious injuries, long recovery periods, and subsequent comebacks are ingrained in the spirit of this event. Hickman has added his name to this list. His second-place finish on the BMW represents much more than just a number on the leaderboard.
