Bad weather continues to disrupt the race schedule at the 2026 Isle of Man TT. Three races were planned for today (June 2nd), but this has been reduced to one due to the rain hitting the island; the Sportbike and Superstock races have been rescheduled, while the Supersport race has been moved to the afternoon with an additional delay.
Successive postponements
In the morning, consecutive one-hour delays were announced due to track conditions; the road closing times were shifted from morning to afternoon. The Supersport race, originally scheduled to start at 11:00, was gradually delayed and reduced from four laps to three. The Superstock race, planned for the evening, was revised during the day and eventually removed from the schedule altogether.
The evening session is back.
Initially, no races were planned for the evening, but organizers announced that the evening's forecast had turned out better than expected and that the three-lap Carole Nash Sportbike Race 1 would take place at 18:30. This was the second major weather-related scheduling crisis since the start of the event.
Superstock's unlucky week.
The Superstock race was the first major casualty of the season. The 1000cc class, which was planned to open the event with a change in 2026, could not take place on Saturday, May 30th due to weather conditions. The race was initially scheduled to run alongside the first Sidecar race; however, the sidecar class was suspended for the entire season following two major crashes during practice week. Thus, the opening race of the season was the Superbike TT, held on Sunday and comfortably won by Dean Harrison.
The races may be postponed until Sunday.
TT race director (Clerk of the Course) Gary Thompson said that following weather-related disruptions, it was becoming increasingly likely that the races would extend into Sunday, the event's reserve day. Thompson stressed that they would try to complete the entire race schedule, but that safety came first and they would only put drivers on track when conditions were suitable.
