Former Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen will compete in the NASCAR Cup Series for the first time. Trackhouse Racing has revived its Project 91 program, fielding the Danish driver in the San Diego leg on June 21st. Magnussen will drive the #91 Chevrolet on the 3.4-mile street circuit.

The first race in a historic venue.

The San Diego race will be held at Naval Base Coronado, a facility belonging to the U.S. Navy. This event marks the first time in NASCAR Cup Series history that a race will be held at an active military base. It will also be San Diego's first street course race on the NASCAR calendar.

Experienced players among his teammates

Magnussen will be competing alongside Ross Chastain, Shane van Gisbergen, and Connor Zilisch from Trackhouse Racing throughout the race. This will make the Danish driver the fourth different driver to compete in Project 91. The team has previously given international drivers the opportunity to experience NASCAR Cup racing through this program.

Magnussen, who served the Haas team in Formula 1 for many years, will face a unique challenge on the NASCAR calendar, which consists of oval and street circuits. The race is expected to take place on June 21st.
