The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has announced a special livery for this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Featuring the red, white, and blue colors of the American flag along with star and stripe motifs, the design symbolizes the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the US Declaration of Independence by Congress.
A custom design for Silverstone with a 4th of July theme.
Cadillac is abandoning the monochrome look it has used since stepping onto the F1 scene at the Australian Grand Prix this season. The MAC-26 car will take to the track with a full-color star design, featuring American flag motifs on the front wing and engine cover. The special livery won't be limited to the cars; the decoration in the Silverstone garage, the drivers' helmets, and the team uniforms will also feature the same color scheme. The sprint race and qualifying for the British GP will take place on Saturday, July 4th, the anniversary of American Independence.
Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss made the following statement regarding the matter: The weekend of July 4th is an opportunity to show the pride we feel in representing the United States on the global stage of F1. We want to help new communities discover this sport and share our passion.
Perez and Bottas will take to the track with a special liver.
The design will be implemented in the cars of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez. Perez, who came close to scoring the team's first points at the Monaco Grand Prix, commented: Silverstone will be a challenging track, and high temperatures are expected again; however, this team has enough experience and determination to find its way forward. I hope we can give our American fans another reason to celebrate July 4th.
McLaren and Williams are also making similar thematic choices this weekend; however, while both British teams are using it to celebrate their home races, Cadillac is turning the track into a platform for its own symbolic political history. This choice is particularly noteworthy given that Silverstone is technically located on British soil.
