Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris, in an interview on the Beyond the Grid podcast, gave a clear message about his relationship with McLaren and his future: He plans to spend his career with the Woking-based team; however, if he were to leave one day, there is only one team he has his eye on.
McLaren is like my family.
Norris, who has spent his entire career with McLaren and is among the drivers with the most races with the same manufacturer, directly answered the question of whether he will stay with the team: "Most likely yes. I don't know when my Formula 1 career will end, but my contract has a long way to go, so I'm not going anywhere in the near future." Norris used the following expression for his team: "This is like my family. I want to do my best with McLaren for the next 5 to 10 years.".
Mysterious alternate team
Norris, however, made no secret of the fact that he has only one goal in a possible departure scenario: "There is only one team I would go to after McLaren. There is only one team that interests me; however, this is a matter of the very distant future and I don't want to reveal its name for now." Norris reiterated that he is fully committed to McLaren.
There is no definitive information about the identity of the unnamed team in question. However, the possibility of joining Ferrari remains the most frequently discussed option for Norris, who was linked with Ferrari a few years ago but ultimately chose to continue with McLaren. Norris has not confirmed this.
