The first official timed practice night of TT 2026 kicked off with excitement on Tuesday evening. After sessions cancelled due to the accident at Parliament Square on Monday, the tracks finally opened and drivers immediately engaged in a display of their power.

Harrison made history.

Honda Racing UK rider Dean Harrison made history by recording the fastest lap ever seen in a Superbike TT opening session, reaching 133.925 mph. Harrison completed his first lap at 133.222 mph after taking to the track at 6:50 pm, then increased that figure to 133.925 mph. The Ballaugh-born rider soon pitted to switch to his Superstock bike.

Dunlop imposed pressure in two classes.

Michael Dunlop finished second in the Superbike category with a speed of 130.341 mph. Riding a Hawk Racing Honda, Dunlop returned to the pits after the first lap due to pre-setting issues; however, after the necessary adjustments, he became the fastest rider in the Supersport class with his Ducati Panigale V2. Josh Brookes finished second, and Peter Hickman third.

The 130 mph club has expanded.

In the Superstock class, Josh Brookes took the lead with 130.197 mph, followed by Peter Hickman in second place with 129.42 mph, and Jamie Coward in third with 128.702 mph. Nathan Harrison also surpassed the 130 mph mark with 130.010 mph. In the Sportbike category, Paul Jordan was the only rider to exceed the 120 mph mark, taking first place in his class.

Red flag on adjacent cars

The side car session was prematurely ended by a red flag due to an accident involving Maria Costello and Shaun Parker in Brandish. Costello sustained a head injury, while Parker suffered arm and leg injuries; both were taken to Nobles Hospital by ambulance. The session was completed in a shortened form, with Ryan and Callum Crowe emerging victorious.
