Marco Bezzecchi made the most of his home advantage at the 2026 MotoGP Italian Grand Prix, securing a spectacular victory. The Ducati rider beat Jorge Martin by over 3 seconds, causing jubilation among local fans in Mugello.
Martin initially took the lead.
An unexpected turn of events occurred on the first lap of the race. Bezzecchi lost the lead to Jorge Martin at the first corner. However, the Italian driver was impatient and immediately counter-attacked at the fourth corner to regain his position. This maneuver would prove decisive for the rest of Bezzecchi's race.
Bagnaia's Superior Performance and Decline
In the first three laps of the race, Francesco Bagnaia overtook both Bezzecchi and Martin to take the lead. The Ducati rider, whose engineering skills were outstanding, successfully maintained the lead until the middle of the race. However, Bagnaia lost form in the final stages of the race, and Bezzecchi caught up on lap 14. From that point on, the Italian rider took complete control and quickly managed to increase his lead.
