Iker Lecuona, competing in the World Superbike Championship, will fill the void left by the injured Alex Marquez at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix as Gresini Racing's MotoGP rider. The Spanish rider eagerly awaits his return to MotoGP, and his team has thus filled a last-minute gap.

Marquez's injury opened the door for Lecuona.

Alex Marquez suffered a serious accident at the Catalan Grand Prix last May, forcing him to miss the Mugello event. The Spanish driver has now entered a recovery process that will also leave him out of the race at Balaton Park. As a result, Gresini Racing has had to call up their reserve driver.

Lecuona's return excitement

This will be Lecuona's most crucial return to MotoGP in recent times. The 26-year-old rider, whose experience in the Superbike series has been waning, will have the chance to prove himself at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary, while also aiming to provide valuable support to his team. Thus, returning to the highest level of MotoGP after a long break, Lecuona aims to make the most of this opportunity.
