The MotoGP 2027 season lineup is almost complete, on the eve of a new era where new technical regulations will come into effect and manufacturers will remain committed to the championship until the end of 2031. Following the signing of the Concorde Agreement, successive official announcements have revealed the most extensive lineup change in the history of the premier class.

Great activity in factory teams.

The chain of announcements began at the end of June. As Motorsport.com previously reported, Marc Marquez extended his Ducati factory contract for two more years on June 23rd. At the same time, Ducati announced the departure of Francesco Bagnaia; just two hours later, they announced Pedro Acosta as his replacement. Aprilia had already added Marco Bezzecchi to their lineup in early February with a contract extension; they officially announced the Bagnaia transfer the following day, during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend. Thus, the Italian manufacturer now has a complete Italian factory duo for 2027: Bezzecchi and Bagnaia.

Yamaha announced on June 30th that it was parting ways with Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, and then on July 1st, confirmed that Jorge Martín and Ai Ogura would form its 2027 factory team. Ogura had won in Assen just three days prior to this announcement. Meanwhile, KTM announced on Monday that it had signed Alex Marquez, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, whom VR46 had previously dropped.

Honda has yet to make an official announcement. Quartararo is expected to become Honda's new lead rider; however, the Japanese manufacturer has not yet decided whether to partner him with David Alonso or Diogo Moreira. If Moreira, a newcomer to MotoGP, joins the Honda factory team, David Alonso will remain with LCR Honda. Johann Zarco has a contract with LCR Honda until 2027, provided he recovers from his current injury.

Satellite constellations and uncertainties

Gresini was the first of the satellite teams to make an announcement. The team, led by Nadia Padovani, announced on July 2nd that Joan Mir would race on a factory-specification bike with Dani Holgado, who comes from Moto2, as his teammate; the team also announced a new multi-year agreement with Ducati. At Pramac Yamaha, Spanish Moto2 rider Izan Guevara is expected to join Toprak Razgatlioglu. VR46 has secured Fermín Aldeguer; Ducati's preferred teammate is Nicolo Bulega, with Luca Marini as an alternative.

The biggest uncertainty lies with the Tech3-KTM team. The team had one-year options on Maverick Viñales and Enea Bastianini until June 30th. According to current developments, Bastianini is close to joining Trackhouse Aprilia, a team that also wants to extend Raul Fernandez's contract for another year. Tech3 is currently in talks with Moto2 rider Senna Agius, Marini, and Viñales.

Names that could lose MotoGP

Four riders from Moto2 — Alonso, Holgado, Guevara, and Agius; and championship leader Manu Gonzalez as a possible outsider — are expected to move up to the top class. This means MotoGP winners like Alex Rins, Franco Morbidelli, Jack Miller, and Brad Binder will lose their seats; Viñales also faces the risk of losing his seat. Morbidelli's strongest alternative appears to be the World Superbike Championship; Binder, Miller, and Rins are also open to this option. Viñales and Marini, however, are among those who absolutely refuse to move to a production-based championship.
