Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, who achieved his best MotoGP result of his career at the Hungarian Grand Prix, openly expressed his disappointment with the Yamaha YZR-M1 despite the relative optimism created by his 11th place finish. The Turkish rider admitted that his motivation was particularly shaken after Brazil.
“"When everything went wrong, my motivation collapsed."”
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu stated that although his 11th-place finish in Hungary was his highest MotoGP result of his career, he left the track disappointed. Referring to the difficulties encountered in the later stages of the season in the top class of motorsport, the rider said, “When everything goes wrong, my motivation drops a lot. I was expecting a much better weekend after Friday.”.
Yamaha's 2026 reality
Yamaha explicitly defined 2026 as a transitional year, having previously announced that growing pains would be inevitable with the new V4 engine project. Toprak signed the contract knowing this, but feeling the loss of performance on the track is a completely different matter. Sudden rear wheel loss on long corner exits and acceleration problems stand out as the main issues that erode the advantage Toprak gains in his strong braking zones.
Progress step by step
Pramac team principal Gino Borsoi said that Toprak and his teammate Jack Miller never complained about the situation, which made progress easier. “We need to be patient, take it race by race, without dreaming too much,” said Borsoi, emphasizing that both drivers are aware of where they are. Toprak, meanwhile, points out that 11th place at Balaton Park is an indication that with the right conditions, a top 10 finish is within reach.
