Ducati Aruba.IT Racing has confirmed its first 2027 WSBK lineup: Spanish rider Iker Lecuona has signed a new two-year contract with the Italian factory team. The agreement covers the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

Bulega is behind in the leadership race.

Lecuona, who has quickly adapted in his first year since switching from Honda to Ducati, is currently second in the 2026 World Superbike Championship, right behind his teammate Nicolo Bulega. With Bulega expected to move to MotoGP next season, it's still unclear who Lecuona's new teammate will be in 2027.

In a statement following the contract renewal, Lecuona once again emphasized how his life has fundamentally changed since joining this family: “It is a great honor for me to continue the journey with Aruba.it Racing Ducati. I thank both Aruba and the Ducati family for their trust in me. Planning for the future together is wonderful; but for now, my priority is to finish this season with the highest possible performance and continue my development.”

Dall'Igna and Cecconi praise Lecuona.

Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall'Igna emphasized the importance of the agreement for the team. Dall'Igna stated that Lecuona quickly learned to use the bike in the most efficient way and translated his potential into tangible points and results. "With his speed, precise riding style, and accumulated experience, he is a great asset to the team in this championship, which is getting tougher every week," said Dall'Igna, adding that the current infrastructure is solid and that they continue to aim to improve performance in the coming period.

Aruba.it Racing Ducati Team Principal Stefano Cecconi expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, stating that Lecuona not only adapted technically but also fit perfectly into the team's work culture and family atmosphere from day one.

Ducati has yet to make any statement regarding Lecuona's teammate for the 2027 season.
