Peter Hickman's presence at the TT 2026 represents much more than just his position on the leaderboard. Last year's crash at Kerrowmoar, where he was traveling at over 200 km/h, was caused by the BMW's exhaust bracket breaking. The crash resulted in serious nerve damage to his arm, and for a time, there was debate about whether Hickman would ever return to the same level.
Hickman, who suffered two more separate crashes at the Daytona 200 in early 2026, returned to the UK after a challenging recovery period. He competes in the Superbike class with 8TEN Racing BMW and in the Supersport class with Swan Racing/PHR Triumph Street Triple 765 RS.
Hickman, who finished third in the Supersport class during the first practice session, took the lead in the Superbike class during yesterday afternoon's session. These results are extremely promising for the fans and the team.
